Our history

The municipality of Kapela is a local self-government unit founded in 1994. It covers an area of 110 km2, with a total of 2973 inhabitants in 26 settlements scattered over the hilly terrain of Bilogora, which otherwise have a total of 120 kilometers of roads, of which 29.5 km are county roads, 39.0 km are local roads, and 51.5 km are unclassified. road.

The municipality of Kapela with 1,025 households is an area where family households are mainly engaged in the production of agricultural crops (maize, wheat, barley, etc.), animal husbandry (cattle breeding - bulls and heifers, poultry breeding - fattening chickens and layers), and pig breeding.

In this region, there is no developed industry and crafts that would improve the filling of the municipal budget, so the municipality has a modest annual budget of approx. 50.0% of the average of the Republic of Croatia.

The level of the road network and other infrastructure does not meet the needs of the population and is thus a limiting factor in the development of the Municipality of Kapela, which is normally populated mostly by elderly households, and further construction and raising the level of built infrastructure is of great importance and weight and is directly reflected on the development of the settlement and the municipality in as a whole and the remaining of young people in the countryside, and thus the increase in the number of family farms and business entities and their development capacities.
