ROMANIA - Primaria Hartiesti
Our history
The commune of Hârtiesti in the Muscel area with a natural setting of special attraction is located in the eastern part of Argeş County, 28 kilometres from the town of Câmpulung Muscel and 40 kilometres from the town of Pitesti.
The first documentary evidence of the village of Hârtiesti, home to the commune, dates back to 1475, the time of the ruler Laiotă Basarab.
In that year, the mountain lord fortified a chrysov of the Cutlumuz monastery on Mount Athos, several villages and a mountain, among which is the village of Hârtiesti in Argeşel.
Laiotă Basarab called Basarab the Elder was the son of the ruler Dan II and had 2 reigns: 1473-1474 and from November 1974 to 1975.
The age of Lucieni village, the second village in the commune, exceeds five and a half centuries, being an ancient Muscelean settlement, the first documented village in the commune of Hârtiesti.
I found the first account of this settlement in the letter dated 10 August 1437, issued by the mountain ruler Vlad Dracul, which strengthens the right of ownership over the land here to several boyars.
The other villages that form part of the Hârtiesti commune, namely Lespezi and Deal, were set up as small administrative units in 1968 with the administrative-territorial reform.
